My Sciroccos

2/2009:  Progress continues on the Callaway.  I've refreshed the suspension, rebuilt the turbo and taken care of some minor issues.

By the way, check out www.jimbotimbo.com for lots of VW T-shirts!

9/2008:

I sold the 88 and bought a 1980 Scirocco S with a Callaway Stage I turbo.  This car was originally sold in the San Francisco Bay area and had the turbo installed when it was purchased.  I bought it from a guy in Colorado.

It makes me very happy to have a MK1 Scirocco.  I love both generations of the car but I'm definitely partial to the 1975-1981 body style.

Here's the car:

Fall, 2007:

I sold my 85 Wolfsburg Edition and the 87 16V daily drivers, leaving just the 88.

In total, I have owned about 11, spanning the years 1975 through 88 - pretty much the entire life span of the the US model.

Check out the Scirocco forum at VWVortex.com for discussions about all things Scirocco.

I decided to return to the fold in December of 2004, after a friend sent me a link to an online article about a fabulously clean Cosmos Silver 1981 "S" model, a model I have previously owned. I picked up the 88 from a guy in Pottstown, PA and hope to bring it to "show" condition. It is in excellent condition overall, but I have a bunch of stuff in the works.

The 88 16V placed first in its class at this year's car show at Waterfest in Englishtown, NJ, scoring 87 out of a possible 100 points.
