I’ve seen many great websites over the years, pretty much none of which have been designed by me! But almost all had one thing in common; they were all designed to be aesthetically wonderful, with pretty much zero consideration paid to search engine visibility. What’s the point of having a beautiful website if people can’t find you? Lots of companies spend thousands and thousands of dollars on a website that no one can find on the web.
SEO or Search Engine Optimization isn’t really difficult. Doing it right can be time-consuming, but it really pays off in the long run. It’s like planting a garden; the work that we do up front on your site will pay off in clicks for years to come. It’s time and money well-spent.
“What do you do?”
It’s simple. I sit down with you and discuss the product or service that you’re offering and the type of people you want to reach. We come up with keyword phrases and other elements that need to be integrated into the site. I perform an in-depth analysis of competition’s websites, Google Analytics’ popular search phrases and other factors that help me to fine tune your website in order to get it found. We implement the necessary changes, along with installing analytics tools on your site in order to track our progress and further tweak the site to get optimum results.
“How much do you charge?”
Really good search engine optimization is an ongoing process that can be applied over a number of years as the web changes, your competition comes and goes, your offerings change and your customer’s needs vary. The best thing to do is to point your site in the right direction, marketing-wise; get it tweaked for better search engine visibility and check back in a month or two to determine what the next steps might be. I usually suggest about 30-40 hours of work up front to get all of our findings implemented. Subsequent follow-up work is usually in blocks of an hour or two.
